Archiving Policy

The Global Medical Insights Journal is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. This archiving policy outlines the procedures and standards for archiving all journal articles, ensuring that research is preserved, accessible, and discoverable for future generations.

1. Digital Preservation

As a digital-first journal, Global Medical Insights Journal uses multiple online platforms to ensure that all published content is preserved and remains accessible. All articles are stored digitally in a secure and easily accessible manner. The key elements of digital preservation include:

  • Publisher’s Repository: All articles published in the journal are stored in our internal archival system, ensuring that content is preserved for the long term. Articles are accessible via the journal’s website and are retrievable by their DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

  • Third-Party Repositories: In addition to the publisher’s repository, articles are also deposited in global repositories such as PubMed Central, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar. These platforms ensure broader access and enhanced visibility for published content.

  • DOI Assignment: Every article published in the journal is assigned a permanent DOI, which guarantees long-term discoverability. The DOI remains unchanged, even if the content is moved or archived in different locations.

2. Backup and Redundancy

Global Medical Insights Journal follows a rigorous backup protocol to prevent the loss of any content:

  • Regular Backups: All published articles and editorial records are backed up regularly, ensuring that no data is lost in the event of technical issues or server failure.

  • Geographically Distributed Storage: Backups are stored in geographically diverse locations to mitigate risks associated with natural disasters, power outages, or other regional disruptions.

3. Retention of Published Content

The journal retains all published articles in its archives indefinitely. This means that every article published in Global Medical Insights Journal remains accessible online and in archived repositories as a permanent record of the scientific and medical knowledge it contains.

  • Access to Full-Text: Articles will remain freely accessible to users worldwide through open-access platforms. Access to the full text will not be restricted unless otherwise specified due to legal or ethical reasons.

4. Open Access Archiving

As part of our open-access commitment, Global Medical Insights Journal ensures that all published articles are freely available to anyone with an internet connection. Articles are deposited in open-access repositories and are freely accessible without subscription or payment.

  • Public Access: All content is made freely available at the time of publication, ensuring that global health professionals, researchers, and policymakers can benefit from the knowledge published in the journal.

  • Long-Term Open Access: Articles will remain freely accessible through the journal's website and affiliated third-party repositories for as long as possible, ensuring that no access barriers are placed in the way of academic or professional readers.

5. Retraction and Correction

In the event of a retraction or correction of a published article, the original version of the article will remain available in the archives, along with the retraction or correction notice.

  • Retraction: If an article is retracted due to ethical concerns (such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or other forms of misconduct), the retracted version will be clearly marked as such, and a retraction notice will be issued. The retraction notice will remain publicly accessible alongside the original article.

  • Correction: If an error is identified in a published article that does not significantly alter its conclusions, a correction notice will be issued. The correction will be linked to the original article and will be included in the archive.

6. Third-Party Archiving Services

In addition to the publisher’s repository, Global Medical Insights Journal utilizes third-party archiving services to guarantee content accessibility:

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): The journal is registered with LOCKSS, which ensures that the content is archived and available through distributed, long-term digital preservation services.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): The journal may also participate in CLOCKSS, an archive designed to preserve content for future access, even if the journal itself ceases publication.

  • Internet Archive: Global Medical Insights Journal may also use platforms like the Internet Archive for additional archiving of content, which provides a permanent, public online record of all published articles.

7. Archival Standards and Compliance

Global Medical Insights Journal complies with international standards for digital archiving and long-term preservation. The journal follows the Open Archives Initiative (OAI-PMH) protocol for metadata harvesting, ensuring that its articles are discoverable and preserved across a variety of global digital platforms.

8. Access to Archived Content

All archived content will remain freely accessible to the global community of researchers, health professionals, and the general public. While we do not impose any access restrictions on archived content, there are certain conditions under which access may be limited:

  • Legal Restrictions: In cases where access to content is prohibited by law or due to a legal dispute (e.g., intellectual property issues), access to specific articles may be restricted.

  • Ethical or Publishing Standards: Articles may be temporarily removed or access restricted if an investigation into ethical violations (such as falsification or plagiarism) is ongoing.

9. Future of Archiving

We are continuously monitoring new technologies and standards for digital archiving to ensure the longevity of our content. We are committed to adapting to new methods and tools that improve the visibility, discoverability, and long-term preservation of research, especially as new platforms and technologies become available.

10. Archiving for Authors

  • Author Retention: Authors retain the right to deposit copies of their published articles in personal or institutional repositories, provided that they adhere to the journal's copyright and self-archiving policies.

  • Creative Commons Licensing: Global Medical Insights Journal offers Creative Commons licenses for all its content, enabling authors to share their work freely and openly while ensuring proper attribution.
